When Channel 4 approached us to design their Manchester office, inclusivity was at the heart of the brief. To ensure we met the needs of all employees, we partnered with inclusivity consultants, Goss Consultancy to guide our design decisions.
Goss Consultancy provided a detailed report with recommendations, and Channel 4 carefully considered these insights to ensure the space was inclusive as possible.

The result? A workspace that prioritises accessibility, supports neurodiversity, and champions well-being.
Some key features from the inclusivity report included:
Focus Pods: While these pods were designed for deep work, they also provide important quiet spaces to accommodate for neurodiversity. We also ensured alternative spaces were available for wheelchair users, as accessibility was a priority.
Sensory-Friendly Design: Adjustable lighting, acoustic solutions, and calming colour schemes were implemented to support neurodiverse employees and reduce overstimulation.
Hearing Accessibility: Meeting rooms were equipped with hearing enhancement systems, with robust maintenance plans to ensure functionality.
Flexible Workspaces: Hot-desking was designed with inclusivity in mind. A range of settings means those with specific requirements can access them seamlessly.
Thoughtful Details: From rounded edges on furniture to visually contrasting flooring and walls, every detail was considered to support employees with visual impairments.
Well-being Room: A multi-functional space was created to serve as a quiet room, new parent room, or sensory decompression area, ensuring it met diverse needs.
Our Channel 4 project demonstrates how intentional design, guided by expert insights, can create a workspace where everyone feels valued and empowered to do their best work. Read the full case study for this incredibly project here.
